Who We Are
Introduction:
“The Foundation for the Ukrainian Community in Malta (FUCM) was officially registered on April 25, 2023. Since December 11, 2013, the organization’s co-founders have actively worked to build a strong Ukrainian community in Malta and represent Ukraine in the country.”

About FUCM:
“FUCM is the only legally registered Ukrainian volunteer organization in Malta. Its mission is to unite the Ukrainian community in Malta, promote Ukrainian culture and heritage, and advocate for Ukraine’s interests. Our work encompasses fostering cultural understanding, supporting Ukraine through fundraisers, and collaborating with local organizations for various educational and social initiatives.”

What We Do
Our Activities:
• Advocacy: FUCM actively represents Ukrainian interests in Malta and collaborates with organizations like UNHCR and the European Commission.
• Cultural Events: Organizes cultural events and fundraisers with partners, raising funds for causes such as the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
• Community Support: Programs like the Sunday School, Teen Club, and a project for seniors in partnership with Rotary Club Malta and SOS Malta to support social integration and lifelong learning.

Our Achievements
Highlights:
• Sunday School (October 2022): Provides a space for young Ukrainians to practice their language and culture.
• Teen Club (July 2023): Supports Ukrainian youth in Malta in career exploration and professional development.
• Seniors’ Project: Scheduled for October 2023, a community club for Ukrainians over 50 to aid socialization and integration.
• Fundraising Success: FUCM’s partnerships raised significant funds for Ukraine, including €25,000 used to send an ambulance to support operations in Eastern Ukraine.

Previous Projects
Featured Projects:
• Ukrainian House: Developing a Ukrainian cultural center with a library, classrooms, and event spaces for the Ukrainian community.
• Fundraising Events with Fondazzjoni U: FUCM participated in telethons and other events, raising substantial funds for essential supplies and humanitarian aid.
• Collaborations with Malta Refugee Council: Ongoing efforts in partnership with local and international organizations to advocate for the needs of Ukrainian refugees in Malta.
